Conca dei marini is a small town located near Amalfi, that holds a real treasure of nature, the Emerald Grotto.
The cave was discovered in 1932 by a local fisherman, Luigi Buonocore and can be reached by boat from Amalfi or by stairs or lift from the "Amalfi" coastal road.
This cave gets its name from the emerald shades that the water assumes due to the sunlight that penetrates between the rocks, projecting the amazing shades on the rocky walls.
Some divers have placed a white ceramic nativity scene in the water, and at Christmas it becomes the destination of an evocative procession.
Inside the cave are numerous stalactites and stalagmites, some of which join together giving shape to the mighty columns about 10 meters high.
The best time of the day to visit the Emerald Grotto is around 13:00 to 15:00, in fact at this time the reflections of the sun's rays will make the color of the water spectacular.
Also, since the cave is quite small, only few boats can enter it at the same time, so the visit may require a wait (often even a long one). That however, can be facilitated by our advice and the itinerary prepared by us for your visit to the Amalfi Coast.
